Task 3. Audience research

A primarily 16-25 year old middle market aspirational audience are audience members that may not be economically able to purchase certain products they wish to obtain but seeks status to be able to obtain them. Most of my target audience would be students and some may be employed so the magazine I create would have to apply to the target age demographic in accordance with this. For example, on the print copies of my magazine, I would have to list an affordable but appropriate price for my magazine.

In terms of popular culture, this demographic engages with social media quite frequently and are very well-versed in this medium. This allows them to be able to access pop culture quicker than previous generations and older age demographics. This demographic may interact with streaming services, such as Netflix and Disney+, quite a lot, reaffirming that they wish to obtain information quickly.

In terms of my chosen brief, I think I could incorporate this on demand aspect of the audience's values in my magazine. I am considering making a fashion magazine that aims at the aspirational target audience using features such as audio-visual pieces of "lookbooks" including dupe items that aim directly at the audience as they allow audiences to replicate outfits and looks using more affordable items. I think I could include this material with "daily updates" appealing to this on-demand need of my audience.
